Sheffield Wednesday boss has claimed his side deserved to beat Millwall yesterday and many Owls fans appear frustrated by his post-match comments.

The game at Hillsborough ended as a goalless draw, helping Wednesday move off the bottom of the Championship for the first time this season.

Both sides had chances but quality in the final third was severely lacking and neither were able to break the deadlock.

Speaking after the game, Monk indicated to club media that his men had deserved to come away with all three points.

He said: "In the changing room there's a bit of disbelief how we haven't won that game. We set out what we wanted to do. Clean sheet, I don't think Joe (Wildsmith) was ever troubled. The only one time was when Joost (van Aken) slipped and the player had a header but he missed the target. So in terms of defensively, it was exactly what we wanted to do.

"We kept a clean sheet, we dominated the game with the ball especially in the second half, and then we created all the chances – even in the first half.

"Really good chances, as I said it's just one of those things right now. It's not coming off for us."

Wednesday had their points deduction halved this week but remain in the bottom three, two points adrift of safety, though their improved position in the table seems likely to ease the pressure on the manager.
