Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday fans have taken to social media to react to a message from striker Gary Hooper, after it was announced that he will leave the club this summer.

The 31-year-old is one of six out-of-contract players at Hillsborough who will be released by the club, as new manager Steve Bruce looks to put his own stamp on the squad.

Hooper has made just six Championship appearances for the Owls this season, scoring one goal, after returning from a 15-month injury lay-off in March.

The centre-forward posted this message on his personal Twitter account, saying that he has really enjoyed his time at Sheffield Wednesday and thanked the club for looking after him.

The striker thanked Owls fans for their support throughout his time at the club and added that he is looking forward to beginning the next chapter of his career.

Hooper scored 31 goals in 89 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday and played his final game for the club in the 2-1 defeat to QPR at Hillsborough on Sunday.
