Aston Villa recorded a fine 3-0 win against fellow promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough last night, sparking hope that they might be a serious challenger for a top six spot.

After the madness of their 5-5 draw in midweek, it must have been refreshing for fans to see a clean sheet and a confident defensive display. Opponents Boro are usually the side in control at the back, with their keeper Darren Randolph rarely making an error.

On the other hand, Aston Villa keeper Orjan Nyland has come in for criticism all season, with a general feeling from the terraces being they'll replace him in the transfer window. That might be so, but the clean sheet yesterday has finally seen some praise on social media for the Norwegian.

Some of it was begrudging, but his performance was noted and commented on. He made a terrific save at 2-0, keeping Villa in the game and credit where it is due, they finally found some positive things to write about.
