Last week was a special week for Leeds United as the club celebrated its centenary season. Players and managers past and present were at Elland Road through the week and for Saturday's win against Birmingham City.

Many players past and present had come acquainted with one another through one way or another, but for two legends they only met for the first time on Thursday.

Terry Cooper signed for Leeds at the age of 17 in 1962 and was part of the great Don Revie side which saw Leeds win the League Cup, FA Cup and First Division title on two occasions, making 250 appearances for the Yorkshire-based club.

Cooper played his part alongside club legends such as Billy Bremner, Eddie Gray and Peter Lorimer and was amongst the surviving members of that great side who were awarded the freedom of the City of Leeds to mark the club's 100th birthday.

Cooper would eventually leave Leeds for Middlesbrough in 1975 but his stature and consistent place in Revie's team rightfully cemented his name into the Whites' folklore.

16 years after Cooper left Leeds, United signed another left-back Tony Dorigo.

Dorigo who joined Leeds from Chelsea in 1991, played a pivotal role in United winning the last First Division in 1992, winning the Fans' Player of the Year award that season.

Despite being at Elland Road for less than half the time as Cooper he is still as fondly remembered, due to being part of the last Leeds side crowned Champions of England.

On Thursday, the two former Leeds defenders met for the first time and Dorigo was quick to take to Twitter to announce their meeting.

Plenty of the Elland Road faithful were loving this latest image.
