The Dutchman has been on the fringe of the Wolves squad this season and has barely featured in the league, with manager Kenny Jackett preferring either James Henry or Nathan Byrne on the right side of midfield.

Van La Parra joined Brighton and Hove Albion on the last day of the loan window until January to get game time, something he made very clear to Wolves.

He has struggled to break in to the Wolves team this season, despite making 41 appearances in the last campaign, and appearing high up the list in the club's assist charts.

He told the Express and Star: 'The manager maybe wanted to try some different players but I cannot explain what happened.

'It’s unreal. I played last season and I then went onto the bench not playing as many games. I was surprised (at Brighton’s loan offer) because it was near the end of loan window but I wasn’t surprised because I know my qualities.

'It’s a big chance for me and I’m very happy and appreciative that the manager (Chris Hughton) wants to give me an opportunity.'

The loan is somewhat of a shock after he was close to almost joining bottom club Bolton Wanderers, but Seagulls boss Hughton wanted to add some extra quality to his squad, which van La Parra potentially has.

He joins a Brighton side who are top of the Championship and are unbeaten in 18 games.
