Wolves have made big moves in the transfer market over recent seasons, using their relationship with Jorge Mendes to bring the likes of Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and even manager Nuno Espirito Santo to Molineux.

They're now reaping the benefits of that, with Santo delivering some of the best football seen at the club in decades, as they sit top of the Championship.

And, the Portuguese outlet Record are suggesting another bright young starlet could be making a move to the West Midlands. Joao Carvalho, a midfielder who plays for Benfica is believed to be on 'stand-by' for a move to the Black Country.

Benfica's president is said to have travelled to the UK this week with Hugo Valdir, who works for Mendes' Gestifute agency to help sort out the move.

The 20-year old player is yet to play for the senior Benfica team, however he has starred in the 'B' team. Carvalho also played for Vitoria de Setubal in the top-flight on loan last season and has featured regularly at all of the younger international age groups for his country.

The Verdict

After the quality additions that Wolves brought in this summer, presumably with the help of Mendes, Wolves fans will certainly trust the club to deliver again in January.

Even low-key signings like Ruben Vinagre have excelled and Carvalho has a similar pedigree.

He is young, has something to prove and will suit the style of play that Santo has brought to Molineux. Whether this deal comes off or not, it should be an exciting window for the club.
