Despite their excellent start to the season where they have scored goals for fun, Wolves are on the lookout for a striker in January and could revisit a move for Watford’s Stefano Okaka.

The Black Country club went for the Italian international in the summer, but he wanted to fight for his place at Vicarage Road. Yet, he is way down the pecking order now and according to the Express, Wolves will go back in for the Italy international.

The powerful striker has made only two appearances for Watford this season, although he did score on the opening day in a 3-3 draw against Liverpool.

However, Marco Silva clearly prefers Andre Gray and Troy Deeney as his striker options, with Okaka regularly not even making the squad.

Whilst Wolves are comfortably the top scorers in the Championship, they have very little depth up top behind Leo Bonatini. The 12-goal Brazilian has been a revelation since joining from Al-Hilal, but Nuno Espirito Santo has no natural striker to replace him if he suffered an injury.

The Verdict

Stefano Okaka would be a reasonable signing for Wolves, particularly on a short-term basis if possible.

The former Anderlecht man has a lot to prove in the top flight, but his strength, power and hold-up play could really be influential in the Championship.

He is clearly not going to get a chance at Watford now, so a move to the West Midlands would suit everyone.
