Wolves have opened talks with rivals West Brom over a potential deal for Salomon Rondon and they’ve also been monitoring Stoke City’s Joe Allen.
Wanderers are on the lookout for new recruits ahead of next season, which will see them playing European football if Manchester City win the FA Cup this evening.
And, the Mirror have revealed that talks are underway to bring Rondon across the Black Country, with the target man having a £16.5m release clause.
The Venezuela international spent the current campaign with Newcastle, where he scored 11 league goals and scooped Player of the Year on Tyneside. However, key figures in the north-east are reluctant to pay such money for a 29-year-old.
That doesn’t appear to be a problem for Wolves, although the report states there are several other top-flight clubs interested in the former Zenit man.
Another player they want to bring to Molineux from the Championship is Wales international Allen, who was a regular for the Potters this season.
But, it was a tough campaign for everyone connected to the club and the ex-Liverpool man is one of several high-profile departures expected this summer for Nathan Jones’ men.
Wolves have been heavily linked with Rondon recently and he would really give the Premier League side a different option, whilst the prospect of Europe may appeal to the player.
Obviously, Albion wouldn’t want to sell to their local rivals but the release clause takes this out of their hands.
The interest in Allen is a surprise but it seems inevitable that he will move on this summer.
