Wolves weigh two former Aston Villa managers as Zenga replacement

Former Aston Villa managers Tim Sherwood and Paul Lambert are thought to be high up on Wolves’ shortlist, as the club narrow down their search for a new manager, the Express and Star reports.

The Black Country side, who sit 17th in the Championship table after 15 games, have been without a manager for the last week, following the departure of Walter Zenga, after just 3 months at the helm.

News has emerged that both Sherwood and Lambert are the board’s preferred choices for the vacant manager role, as they look to make an announcement before Saturday’s clash against Derby County.

Sherwood managed to accumulate a 35% win rate at Villa Park in his 8-month spell at the club, whilst Lambert only managed a 29% win rate with the Villans, in his three-year stint at the club.

Ex-player and fan favourite Paul Ince, however, is also believed to be on the shortlist, and it is thought that he will be interviewed in the coming days.

Interim boss Rob Edwards, whose first game in charge ended in a 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, also remains a strong contender.

So…what do you think Wolves fans? Who would you like to see be your next manager? Would you like to see either Paul Lambert or Tim Sherwood at the helm? Was it a wrong decision to sack Walter Zenga? Leave all of your thoughts in the comments below!
