Ben Marshall is set to join Millwall on loan until the end of the season today with Wolves prepared to let the winger go.

The 26-year old only arrived at Molineux this time last year however the club has changed a lot in that short period.

Paul Lambert, the man who brought him to Wolves, left and Nuno Espirito came in, adopting a 3-4-3 formation that doesn't suit Marshall.

That has meant the ex-Blackburn man has only made six appearances for Wolves this season in the league and didn’t travel with the team on a mid-season break to Marbella recently.

Therefore, a move seemed inevitable and the South London Press are reporting that the Lions have won the race for his signature.

It will be something of a coup for Millwall as Marshall had been reportedly attracting interest from the likes of Derby and Fulham.

He will also be the latest player to swap the Black Country for The Den, with George Saville and Jed Wallace making the move in the summer and both impressing.

The Verdict

This is a superb signing from Millwall. Marshall has proven himself to be a fine player at this level and was very good for Wolves towards the end of last season.

The big issue has been the formation, with Santo not keen on Marshall as a wing-back meaning he was competing with Jota, Costa and Cavaleiro for a place.

Obviously, that means he isn’t needed at Wolves but he still has a lot to offer in the Championship and could be a big hit in London.
