Benik Afobe is still waiting to learn if he has a future with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but will have options from elsewhere, if the Sky Bet Championship champions don’t pursue a permanent move.

The 25-year-old striker arrived at Molineux on-loan from AFC Bournemouth in January, returning to the club he left back in 2016.

The striker bagged six goals during the second-half of the season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who strolled to promotion and the Championship title.

Despite Afobe wanting to return to Wolves permanently, as they embark on their Premier League adventure, he is still waiting to hear if the club will be pursuing a permanent deal, according to the Mirror.

Bournemouth are holding out for £12m for any permanent deal involving the striker.

Despite wanting to return to Molineux, Afobe will have other options in the summer, with the Mirror also reporting that a number of unnamed Premier League clubs are interested in taking him off Bournemouth’s hands.

During his two-year spell with Bournemouth in the Premier League, Afobe has managed to score 10 top-flight goals in 62 appearances.

The Verdict

Afobe has been good to Wolves since his arrival back at the club in January, with the striker’s goals playing a key part in promotion.

The 25-year-old appears to play his best football at Molineux, and you’d expect him to better his goalscoring record in the Premier League if he was playing in old gold.

However, his record at Bournemouth over two years is hardly impressive and Wolves might look to pursue a more prolific target, which could open the door for their Premier League rivals to move for Afobe.
