Nuno Santo wants the training pitches at his club to be state of the art ahead of next season.

According to the Shropshire Star, new top quality pitches will be installed at Wolves training ground as they try to replicate the surface at Molineux with Santo being a key proponent of this move.

Wolves controlled central areas in most games last season with Fulham being one of the few exceptions of a team that dominated them in this regard when they won 2-0. This control was achieved through a strong passing game collectively which all 11 players were involved in and Ruben Neves was at the heart of.

This allowed them to quickly switch play to flanks to take advantage of openings in wide areas for the wingers or wing-backs. Therefore, having the best quality training pitches allows them to strengthen in areas such as passing because it replicates their own pitch as well as others in the Premier League.

The Verdict

This is an exciting time for Wolves fans and this news will only add to that because Santo doesn't appear to want to compromise on the style he has implemented at the club in the move up to the Premier League. It can be easy for promoted clubs to abandon a recognised style in order to avoid risks and prioritise survival due to the financial rewards.

However, Wolves appear to be a lot more ambitious than that with Santo's decision reflecting that because their ability to control possession was a key strength last season due to having one of the best young deep-lying playmakers in the world in Neves.
