The 24-year-old is currently playing at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament for Guinea, and will be unavailable to play domestically until the competition has finished.

Sylla currently plies his trade for Belgian Pro League club Zulte Waregem but it is looking likely that he will leave the club in this transfer window.

The 6ft 2 striker has scored nine goals in 26 appearances for the Belgian outfit this season, but Wolves are now eyeing a move to bring the striker to England.

Sylla signed for Zulte Waregem in 2013 having joined from Le Mans where he went on to amass over 50 appearances, scoring 14 goals.

It is somewhat odd news that Kenny Jackett is targeting a move for another striker after already signing Benik Afobe this window, in a deal worth £2 million.

Afobe has been on loan at Sky Bet League One outfit MK Dons this season and has been in impressive form for Karl Robinson’s, scoring a sizeable 19 goals so far this season.

The former Arsenal striker scored his first goal on his debut for the Midlands club on Saturday, in a game which finished in a 2-0 victory for Wolved against Blackpool at Molineux.

Jackett could be eyeing a potential partnership with Afobe and Sylla upfront, however it is uncertain whether the deal for the striker will materialise.

Wolves currently sit in eighth  position in the Sky Bet Championship, having accumulated 43 points from 26 league games.

The club have won their previous four league games and will certainly be in the mix for a play-off spot if they continue their impressive form.
