Wolves take sly dig at Steve Bruce with latest club update

Published

on

Aston Villa take on local rivals Wolves tomorrow and despite the huge importance of the game, the pre-match talk has been dominated by off the field events.

Villa are one of at least three clubs who have called on the EFL to investigate Wolves’ relationship with Jorge Mendes, the super-agent who is responsible for bringing the likes of Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and manager Nuno Espirito Santo to the club among others.

Then, Villa’s CEO Keith Wyness sent a tweet yesterday regarding Mendes’ influence at Wolves in Paul Lambert’s departure.

And, the Express & Star reported how Bruce today had a dig at Santo for his celebrations, describing them as ‘vociferous’ before adding ‘we don’t quite behave like’.

That prompted a funny response from Wolves, who not long after the comments had surfaced, took to twitter to share a video of Santo and his backroom team celebrating the final goal in the 3-0 win at Leeds on Wednesday.

That victory restored Wolves’ six-point lead at the top of the Championship.

The Verdict

There has been so much going on ahead of this game that I’m sure everyone connected with both clubs will be eager for the first whistle tomorrow evening.

In fairness to Wolves, it has been Villa making all the noise and the Black Country side have so far refused to bite back.

However, they saw an easy way to get a little dig in at Bruce this afternoon and it has gone down well with the supporters.

Thoughts, Wolves fans? Let us know in the comments below.
