McAlinden has joined Fleetwood on loan

The 21-year-old striker has returned to the Cod Army after his initial spell at the club was cut short when Wolves decided to recall McAlinden from his loan move.

However, boss Kenny Jackett now sees it convenient to allow McAlinden to return to Highbury Stadium. The striker bagged two goals in five games at Fleetwood earlier this season and he will look to continue where he left off for Town.

McAlinden had started Wolves' next game against Birmingham, but since then he has not started a Sky Bet Championship game since.

Fleetwood boss, Graham Alexander told the clubs official website that he is delighted to have McAlinden back at Highbury, "We are delighted to have signed Liam on loan until the end of the season. We know Liam from his previous spell which was cut short when Wolves recalled him," said the boss.

"We have been patient and we knew there was a possibility he could be available for loan and we have kept in contact with Wolves.

"Liam adds fantastic competition up front. He scored a couple of goals for us earlier this season but his general play...he is a little bit different from the other forwards we already have.

"He is a great lad to work with and he is very popular with the other players. It was a no brainer and we are delighted to have him back on board."

Wolves are currently in eighth position in the Sky Bet Championship, having amassed 40 points from 25 league games, whilst Fleetwood lie in ninth place in Sky Bet League One.
