Wolves squad backs under-pressure manager despite poor form

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Walter Zenga retains the support of his squad despite the club’s woeful run of form, The Express & Star reports.

Chinese owners Fosun International are growing impatient with Zenga following the club’s poor form and this weekend’s crucial match with 22nd place Blackburn Rovers could be the final straw for the Italian boss, should his side suffer a defeat at Ewood Park.

Wolves have now gone five games without a win in the Championship following the 1-0 defeat to Leeds United this weekend and sit 18th in the table, seven points behind the play-off spots that the club’s new owners are targeting- as they look to get Wolves back into the Premier League.

However, the Wolves squad are impressed with Zenga’s methods and believe he should be given time to turn things around– which makes things difficult for the owners, who risk unsettling the squad if they wield the axe on Zenga following 14 games in charge.

Wolves have enjoyed some positive results this season, the highlight being the 2-0 victory over Newcastle United a month ago, but Zenga will have to channel that sort of form consistently if the former Inter Milan goalkeeper is to keep his position at the Molineux.

Wolves fans….. What do you make of your season so far? Disappointed? Let us know below!
