Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to demand around £3m for the services of Dion Sanderson this month, according to a report from Football Scotland.

The 23-year-old has been one of the first names on the teamsheet when available for current loan club Birmingham City, recording 24 league appearances and shining once more for the Midlands outfit following his temporary spell there last season.

Although he was recalled and sent to Queens Park Rangers for the second half of last season, he seemed more comfortable with the Midlands outfit and this is why it came as no surprise to many when he re-joined John Eustace's side.

Eustace had previously worked with the defender at Loftus Road during the latter's loan spell there, with the former working as Mark Warburton's assistant in the English capital before the current West Ham coach's departure.

Birmingham are reportedly keen on making his temporary stay at St Andrew's a permanent one - and it was revealed by The Sun yesterday that Rangers have been closely monitoring him as well.

Both may need to fork out a fee in the region of £3m to recruit him though - and it's currently unclear whether either side would be willing to pay that amount.

The Verdict:

Considering he's only 23 and will only improve, you can understand why Wolves would want to demand a seven-figure fee and you wouldn't blame them if they tried to insert a sell-on clause into any potential agreement.

Putting in a buy-back clause may also be wise, though they may limit the amount they will be able to demand for him considering many clubs won't want that to be inserted.

With the defender signing a new four-year deal in 2021 though, his parent club are in a reasonably strong negotiating position if any side decides to make a bid for him and this is why it may be difficult for any interested club to get a deal over the line.

From the player's perspective, a move to either club could be attractive with the defender performing reasonably well at Birmingham and the club is looking in much better shape under Eustace.

The Gers will able to offer him European football though - and Michael Beale may know how to get the best out of him considering the 42-year-old has managed in the EFL this season and may have kept a close eye on him.
