Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Benik Afobe will make his loan deal with the club permanent once promotion is secured, according to The Mirror.

The 24-year-old rejoined his former club having failed to dislodge the likes of Josh King and Callum Wilson from the side at parent club Bournemouth, with Wolves boss Nuno Santo identifying the striker as one of the final pieces of his promotion puzzle.

Afobe bagged twenty-two goals in his previous season with the Molineux side before moving to Premier League Bournemouth, but it now appears his fairytale return to Wolves’ promotion party could continue beyond the end of the season.

The Mirror understands that there exists a clause in the loan deal that ensures Afobe must be signed should Wolves be promoted, and with the club eleven points clear at the top, it looks increasingly likely that a deal will go through in the summer.

The Verdict

It will take time for Afobe to re-establish himself at Molineux due to the form of his new teammates, but the striker has what it takes to be a success at the club once again.

However Wolves are set to spend big again in the summer should and when they go up, and Afobe will have a real fight on his hands if he is to become their number one man in the top tier.

Back in familiar surroundings however the player should flourish, and expect to see him on the scoresheet again in no time.
