Champions Wolves could be set to make a summer move for Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, according to a report by Sportlens.

The Premier League newcomers are keen to add to their ranks over the summer and manager Nuno Santo has identified the goalkeeping positon as something he needs to add depth too, despite the good form of current number one John Ruddy.

McCarthy has been keeping out Fraser Forster for the Saints this past few months and once again put in an excellent display yesterday as Southampton picked up a vital point away to Everton.

The 28-year-old will be hoping he has caught the eye of England manager Gareth Southgate with his performances and will be keen to cement his place as number one going into next season.

However, with Forster waiting in the wings, McCarthy will know a dip in form could cost him his place, and a move to Wolves, where he would surely be considered the number one, would definitely be something which would appeal to the 'keeper.

McCarthy has had previous spells with Reading and Crystal Palace, before settling into first team football with the Saints this season.
