Wolverhampton Wanderers are pondering a summer swoop for Renato Sanches, according to reports coming from Portugal.

Portuguese media outlet Diario de Noticias is reporting that Wolves and Inter Milan will tussle for Sanches' signature this summer.

Bayern Munich are likely to let the young midfielder leave on loan again next season after a poor campaign on loan at Swansea City in the Premier League.

The 20-year-old joined the Swans on a season-long loan last summer with plenty of high expectations surrounding his arrival in South Wales, but he managed to contribute with no goals and no assists in his 15 outings for the club.

However, Wolves are still keen on bringing Sanches back to England and tap into the potential he has shown previously.

When the Portugal international represented his country at Euro 2016 as an 18-year-old, he won the Young Player of the Tournament, dictating play from midfield and helping to guide his nation to glory.

This persuaded Bayern Munich to shell out €35m to sign him from Benfica that summer but his career has failed to progress since then.

Wolves will be hoping that their Portuguese contingent at the club can bring him to Molineux and help him return to his best form.

The Verdict

Wolves face a good chance of landing this deal as he is unlikely to get anywhere near the Bayern Munich first-team on his current form.

But will he be able to do something for Wolves that he failed to do at Swansea?

Sanches may see this as a chance for redemption and the opportunity to prove himself in England or alternatively he might seek a fresh start in Italy, where he could reclaim some of his reputation.
