Wolves poised to make significant decision over Sheffield Wednesday man

Wolves are set to recall Theo Corbeanu from his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday before sending the youngster out again, with MK Dons expected to land the attacker.

The Canadian international joined the Owls in the summer window and he was seen as a good addition for Darren Moore.

However, Corbeanu endured a frustrating start to his career at Hillsborough, as he struggled to get game time, although he impressed when he did get a chance, mainly in an unfamiliar wing-back role.

Even though he has been involved regularly recently, the Sheffield Star have revealed that the Premier League side are going to activate a recall clause that was part of the initial agreement.

The reasoning behind that is believed to be down to the position he is playing, with Wanderers wanting Corbeanu to play further up the pitch.

And, the update states that a move to Wednesday’s promotion rivals MK Dons is on the cards, which will be a blow for the Yorkshire side who are two points and two places behind Liam Manning’s men in the play-off chase.

Do you remember which player scored Sheffield Wednesday’s first goal in each of the last 15 seasons?

The first goal in the 06/07 season came in the third game, a 1-1 draw with Burnley. Who struck for the Owls?

The verdict

This is not what Wednesday fans would’ve wanted to hear but you can understand why Wolves are making this decision as Corbeanu isn’t a wing-back.

From their perspective, they want the player to get regular game time in his preferred position, something it appears MK Dons will be able to offer.

For Moore, it does free up space for another loan arrival and he will want to replace Corbeanu who has done well for Wednesday when he has played this season.
