Wolves are weighing up a transfer swoop for out of favour Stoke City defender, Moritz Bauer according to The Telegraph.

It is thought that Nuno Espirito Santo is targeting a full-back to challenge Matt Doherty for the rest of the season, and he considers Bauer as the ideal signing to do just that.

Any deal that is completed is likely to be a loan deal between the two clubs, as Stoke are keen to keep hold of the full-back in the long-term.

Bauer has struggled for game time with Stoke in the Championship this season, and has only made two starts for the Potters who have struggled following their relegation from the Premier League.

The Austrian is unlikely to force Cuco Martina out of the starting XI anytime soon, so a move to Wolves could certainly tempt him this month.

The 26-year-old signed from Rubin Kazan in the summer, but fell out of favour under Gary Rowett, hence why he has made such a small number of appearances this season.

Bauer will be hoping to have his short-term future resolved at the earliest of opportunities as he looks to find himself regular game time.

The Verdict:

This would be the best move for both parties involved here.

Bauer isn't getting anywhere near enough game time, and he needs a fresh start in English football as quickly as possible.

Even though he wouldn't be guaranteed game time at Wolves, he would have more chance of forcing himself into the Wolves XI, with Matt Doherty being his only competition for a starting spot.
