Ipswich Town are set to sign Wolves goalkeeper Will Norris on a loan, according to Football Insider.

The 25-year-old has agreed a season-long deal at Portman Road, with Football Insider claiming that the deal is now all-but done.

Ipswich have already signed one goalkeeper this summer, with Tomas Holy joining on a free transfer, and manager Paul Lambert is keen to bring in another shot-stopper before the end of the transfer window.

Norris has made just eight appearances in total for Wolves since signing from Cambridge United in 2017 and is currently the third-choice goalkeeper at Molineux behind Rui Patricio and John Ruddy.

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to send the shot-stopper out on loan this summer to allow him to gain more experience.

Ipswich will be hoping to challenge for automatic promotion from League One this season, following their disappointing campaign in the Championship last term, which ended in relegation.

The Verdict

Norris could be a decent signing for Ipswich, although he will probably serve as the back-up goalkeeper to Holy at Portman Road.

Ipswich are likely to need a new goalkeeper before the end of the transfer window, with Bartosz Bialkowski reportedly set to join Millwall on loan, so it's a smart move for Lambert to bring in Norris.

Even though most of his appearances have come in League Two, Norris is still a talented goalkeeper and Wolves obviously see a lot of potential in him, otherwise they would have allowed him to leave on a permanent deal.

I think he's capable of making the step up to League One and he could be a decent signing for the Tractor Boys.
