Coventry City's chances of pulling off their top summer target look to have improved after the news that the Wolves player would not be participating in their pre-season tour.

Bright Enobakhare, 21, is on the top of the Sky Blues' wishlist, according the Coventry Telegraph, and it is reported that the club have made a £600,000 bid for the striker.

The Nigerian youngster had a great spell at the Ricoh last season, scoring six times and assisting three times in his 18 games for the club.

Enobakhare is an attacker who can play on the wing, as a centre forward or as a second striker.

According to the report, Enobakhare was being considered by Nuno Espirito Santo to have a chance in the pre-season and even be involved within the club's Europa League campaign, which begins at the end of the month.

It was suggested that he was going to be involved in the club's tour of China for the Premier League Asia Trophy, but he hasn't featured in the 26-man squad. A squad which also features eight youth players who are yet to make senior debuts, which suggests that he might not be wanted by Nuno.

The Coventry Telegraph understand that their bid for the forward has yet to be responded to by Wolves, who will have a decision to make on the forward who only has one-year left on his deal.

The Verdict

This is good news for Coventry as it's looking more and more likely that this deal could come off.

They are definitely the frontrunners in terms of interest, so hopefully for them that should help persuade the attacker to join them rather than another club that might come in.

He looked very good in League One last year, so it wouldn't be surprising to see a Championship club come in for him considering his age and contract situation.

The future at Wolves looks pretty much over, it's just a case of where he will go next, and Coventry will hope that their serious pursuit is enough to lure him in, but it might depend on who else joins the race.
