According to The Express and Star, Wolverhampton Wanderers boss will be scouring the British leagues this summer rather than looking at overseas targets.

Wolves brought in a number of foreign players last summer with Walter Zenga at the helm during the summer transfer window.

And while a couple of them, such as Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa, have turned out to be decent players, the vast majority have failed to settle in.

Silvio, Ola John, Paul Gladon, Prince Oniangue and Joao Teixeira are five such examples.

In January, Lambert opted to stay domestic with his transfers, bringing in Ben Marshall from Blackburn and Andi Weimann from Derby.

The former Norwich, Aston Villa and Blackburn boss wants more of the same in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Lambert suggested that domestic players are preferable because they know the league and know how the English game works.

Citing Marshall and Weimann as success stories, Lambert said:

"I will look at the domestic league because there’s good players here.

"If you look at people’s games record, if they can play more than 35 games and you get most of those right you get a really strong squad and you can churn them out and play Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday-Tuesday.

"You look at Marshall and Weimann, they’re used to playing in these games and they’ve set a really high standard.

"Dave Edwards, Conor Coady, Danny Batth, they’re all used to it and they’ve played a lot of games.

"Mike Williamson and Richard Stearman have come in, they know the league, they’re experienced, Nouha Dicko knows it, Doc (Matt Doherty) has done it, is robust and hardly missed a game, you get more of them to help because we need it."

Lambert added:

"The mentality of the British game and to adapt to Britain..as a foreign player myself I had to adapt in Germany.

"You adapt to the country you play in.

"But we’ve also got to have a British core that know the league.

"I think that’s important for this club."
