Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has spoken to the Birmingham Mail and says that he has been impressed with the support received from Wolves fans, as well as confirming he wants to sign star loanee Diogo Jota on a permanent deal.

The new Wolves manage saw his club go top of the table yesterday after they defeated local rivals Aston Villa 2-0 at Molineux to continue their excellent start to the season.

When asked about the Wolves support though, Santo was quick to praise the fans, saying:

"We have always had good support. We always want to perform in front of our fans. Today they came because it is special. Thank you, the fans, for the support. I think we did well, we won!

Wolves got the victory courtesy of yet another inspired performance from new loan signing Diogo Jota, and Santo appeared clear on what he wants to happen in January with the flying winger.

"The contract is very clear on that." stated Santo when asked about if he wanted to sign him on a permanent deal.

Jota has been in inspired form since he moved to the club in the summer, joining a host of new signings including the big money capture of Ruben Neves in the middle of the park.

The Verdict

Santo has taken to life in the Championship with ease and Wolves look every bit the promotion contender based on their start to the season.

In Jota he has arguably the finest player in the league, and if he can capture him on a permanent deal in January, it could well be the signing which sees them back in the the Premier League come May.
