According to The Express and Star, Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert wants his side to pick up points sooner rather than later to prevent a stressful end to the season.

A terrible run of form saw Wolves drop right down into the relegation mix in the Championship but three wins on the trot have seen the West Midlands outfit jump to five points clear over the international break.

Paul Lambert is keen to keep this good run of form going so that they can escape a relegation battle come the end of the season.

Within the next week, Wolves have three potentially season defining games.

They start with a home clash against mid-table Cardiff City tomorrow before taking on relegation rivals Nottingham Forest at Molineux on Tuesday night.

Wolves then travel to Ashton Gate for a clash with another relegation candidate Bristol City.

Picking up maximum points in these three games would all but guarantee their safety but failing to pick up any points would see them drop right back into the mix.

Lambert told The Express and Star:

“We want to win as many games as we can.

“If we keep doing what we are doing, playing at that level, we will win a lot more games than we lose.

“That’s the Championship.

"The Premier League is different.

"If you are six points behind someone in the Premier League it is sometimes irretrievable because the levels are high.

“Six points in the Championship it can swing like that.

It is a league where if you can get consistency then more times than not you will get out of it.

“That is the secret."
