Wolves suffered a bit of a reality check at the weekend as they lost to Aston Villa 4-1 in the Championship as the title race was declared open.

The men from the Black Country have had a good campaign so far this season and do still remain the favourites to go up as champions from the second tier.

They can't afford any more slip-ups now, though, with Cardiff in particular breathing down their neck whilst other clubs have also looked to apply pressure on them off of the field.

Indeed, the likes of both Andrea Radrizzani at Leeds and Keith Wyness at Aston Villa have posted on social media in light of allegations about the club's relationship with Jorge Mendes and it's now been Jeff Shi's turn to fire back comments of his own.

Indeed, as quoted by the Express and Star, Shi has said that what has gone on is 'laughable' - as per Tim Spiers' tweet below:

The Verdict

It's been an odd sequence of events this last week or so with Wolves coming under intense scrutiny for their work off of the field - though nothing untoward has yet been proved.

Shi seems relatively calm, too, and he could be right in his appraisal if no wrong-doing is found.
