From the outside looking in, it looks like things couldn't be going too much better for John Ruddy and Wolverhampton Wanderers right now.

As a fixture in the side who sit top of the Championship by eleven points ahead of a match against his former club Norwich City, you'd think Ruddy wouldn't have many complaints about his current situation.

Surprisingly, that is not the case and the towering goalkeeper has admitted that he is not happy with his recent form, stating that he has let himself down in the past few matches.

To the observer's eye, given the lack of glaring errors or even goals conceded, it looks like Ruddy has been in good fettle recently but the experienced keeper says otherwise.

He told the Express and Star: "For the last few games I think I've possibly let myself down with the standards I've set myself.

"I look at my clips after every game and analyse them myself and wonder why this or that has happened, or why didn't I do this or that.

"We get all the clips on an app. After every game I'll have a look on my own. I'm old enough and ugly enough to know what I need to start doing and what I shouldn't have done.

"My missus will tell you I very rarely find positives out of my performances!"

The Verdict

It goes to show just how driven Ruddy is that he is looking to see where he can improve, even when things look like they're going swimmingly and that Wolves are cruising to promotion.

That attitude will stand Wolves in good stead but from my point of view, he hasn't done an awful lot wrong in recent weeks!
