Wolves lodge six-figure bid for 6ft 6in Championship striker

Wolves have reportedly made a six figure bid for Fulham striker Matt Smith, according to the print edition of Thursday’s Sun.

The move for the forward comes after a difficult season for Wolves in terms of threats in front of goal. The departure of prolific goal-scorer Benik Afobe to Bournemouth in January meant that Wolves were consistently lacking for goals.

Loan signing Adam Le Fondre, who has since returned to his club Cardiff City, didn’t score as many goals as he would have liked over his spell at Molineux and therefore the side sorely missed Afobe’s goals.

What made this worse was the absence of Nouha Dicko, who had scored 15 goals over the 2014/15 campaign.

Wolves have reportedly offered £750,000 for the 6ft 6in striker who joined Fulham two years ago. However, Fulham are said to holding out for another £50,000 to see the transfer reach the £800,000 mark.

No matter if this signing does go through or not, Wolves will definitely need to bolster their attack this summer with much needed additions.

The likes of Patrick Bamford, James Wilson and Adam Armstrong have also been linked with the Championship side and it is certainly no mystery why given their lack of goals last season.

Nonetheless, Smith looks to be the prime target for Kenny Jackett who has reportedly been interest in the forward for a number of years.

Wolves fans… what do you think of the bid? Would you like to see your club spend that much on a striker like Smith or spend it elsewhere? Let us know in the comment section below!
