Championship side Wolves have been linked with a stunning move for Porto forward Tiquinho Soares, according to reports (via Birmingham Mail).

The 26-year-old only moved to the Portuguese giants back in January of this year following a short stint at fellow Primeira Liga side Vitoria Guimaraes, for whom he scored eight goals in just 21 games to earn himself a move to Porto.

And there he has gone from strength to strength with a staggering 12 goals in just 15 league matches for the club in the second half of last season, although he was unable to inspire the side to their first league title since 2013, as they finished six points behind champions Benfica.

And Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves have reportedly been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, what with 43-year-old Nuno Santo having been the man to bring him to Porto back in January.

The Midlands outfit have made a fine start to the new Championship season but failed to score in their last outing against Brentford, and also lost before then at home to Cardiff City to stem their momentum.

And the sale of striker Nouha Dicko to Hull on Tuesday has left them short in the attacking department, a void that highly-rated Soares could certainly fill should he make the move to Molineux this week.

The Verdict: Tiquinho Santos only moved to European heavyweights Porto back in January of this year, signing a contract which included a €40 million release clause.

Thus, links with Wolves seem slightly strange, but with now Wolves chief Nuno Espirito Santo the man who brought the 26-year-old to Porto in the first place, and having already attracted several high-profile names from Portugal this summer, the 43-year-old could be at it again.

Soares bagged 12 goals in 15 games under Nuno Santo last term so they clearly work well together, but only time will tell whether anything concrete comes of this deal in the last few days of the window.
