Wolverhampton Wanderers have been keeping tabs on Bristol City goalkeeper Dan Bentley, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.

It is understood that the Premier League outfit are keen to bolster their options in this particular position and thus a move for Bentley could potentially be on the cards.

A report from the Express & Star last month revealed that Wolves are hoping to sign a keeper who will be able to provide more competition for Jose Sa.

Sa has featured for the Wanderers in all 18 of the Premier League games that they have participated in this season.

Wolves may need to fend off competition from Stoke City for Bentley's signature.

As per Bristol Live, the Potters are weighing up the possibility of trying to sign the 29-year-old on loan from the Robins.

Making reference to Bentley yesterday, Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson admitted that the club will make a decision regarding the keeper's future if they receive a serious offer.

Speaking to GiveMeSport about Wolves' interest in Bentley, Crook said: "I think they are looking to bring in a keeper.

"Dan Bentley of Bristol City is a name that has been mentioned to me in the last couple of days."

The Verdict

Given that Wolves have now seemingly entered the race for Bentley, it will be interesting to see whether the Robins opt to sanction a departure for the keeper before the window closes.

After beginning the current campaign as City's first-choice keeper, Bentley lost his place in the starting eleven to Max O'Leary in October.

Bentley has been forced to watch on from the substitutes bench for the Robins' last 13 league games and was not selected to feature in their FA Cup clash with Swansea City last weekend.

When you consider that Sa has been an ever-present in Wolves' side since sealing a switch to Molineux in 2021, Bentley is unlikely to displace him if he joins the Premier League outfit.

Keeping this in mind, it could be argued that a move to Stoke may be more beneficial for the keeper as he will have a better chance of forcing his way into their team.

Having made 260 Championship appearances during his career to date, Bentley knows exactly what it takes to compete at this level and thus could prove to be an asset for the Potters if they finalise a deal.
