Wolves legend Steve Bull reckons the current group will be disappointed if they don't go up as champions as we approach the final stages of the Championship season.

Nuno Espirito Santo's men boast a 13-point lead over third place but they are only six ahead of Cardiff, who also have a game in hand.

As well as that, Wanderers travel to the Welsh capital on April 6 for a game that could have a big bearing on who does lift the Championship trophy.

And, Bull reckons the players will be eager to finish top of the league. "After a perfect week, it will be a big disappointment for Nuno Espirito Santo and the players if they don’t go up as champions," he wrote in his Express & Star column.

The former England international also believes that they could wrap up the title before the end of the season.

"Personally, I think Cardiff will slip up soon and we have the chance to go there and win next month. If all goes to plan we could have the title in the bag with three games to go."

The Verdict

In August, Wolves, like everyone else would've been over the moon to finish second but it would be a slight disappointment if they didn't go up as champions.

Of course, it matters little in the bigger picture, but Wolves have had a lot of praise for a few months now and will want to prove it's justified by winning the league.

It could be an intriguing battle and a lot could ride on what happens when Santo's men travel to Cardiff in a few weeks.
