Swedish striker Joel Mumbongo is on Wolverhampton Wanderers' radar this summer, according to Football Insider.

Wolves are hoping to snap up the impressive youngster, who has previously spent time on trial with Manchester City and Everton.

Both the Premier League champions and the Toffees were both impressed with Mumbongo during his trial but he opted against signing deals with either side.

Mumbongo snubbed interest from the English clubs to remain in Sweden and finish studying.

Previously at BK Hacken, the 19-year-old is now at Utsiktens BK and both Man City and Everton remain keen on him.

They have both been monitoring his progress but Wolves are hoping to poach him after entering the race.

The Sweden under-19 international could follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman Joel Asoro, who plays for Sunderland and Sweden's youth teams.

Wolves have been linked with Asoro and now another Swedish starlet is on their wishlist.

Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of their Premier League campaign but also bolster his youth options too.

Mumbongo is seen as one for the future and Wolves could make a move this summer after bringing in Spanish youngster Rafa Mir up front in January.

The Verdict

If the likes of Man City and Everton are after him, Mumbongo is probably going to boost Wolves' young options.

Mumbongo is a raw talent and this needs harnessing, but if Wolves take a punt on him, they could have a first-team star for the future.

The teenage starlet might be an alternative to Asoro or Wolves could look to pair the young duo together at Molineux.
