Wolverhampton Wanders failed to reach the 100 points mark this season, after their disappointing, and surprising, 3-0 defeat to already relegated Sunderland last time out. But, it doesn’t take too much away from their title-winning season.

As they look forward to the Premier League, Nuno Espirito Santo and his team will be looking for ways to improve their squad.

With captain Conor Coady leading the line from the back, midfield maestro Ruben Neves in the middle of the park and Diogo Jota netting 18 times this season, it is hard to find where this Wolves side can improve.

Having conceded to joint least amount of goals this campaign with second-placed and fellow promoted side Cardiff City, it would be harsh to criticise the work between the sticks by goalkeeper John Ruddy.

But, if Wolves want to progress and become a Premier League side for years to come, investing in a new, younger goalkeeper could see them develop into a high-flyer in England’s top flight.

Already having been linked with the likes of Jack Butland, it is clear that Nuno Espirito Santo is in the market for a new keeper, and that they are willing to spend big.

With Butland getting relegated with Stoke City, eyes turn towards the other teams who have relegation looming. Ben Foster has impressed at West Brom, despite their awful record, Lukas Fabianski has been solid and Southampton’s Alex McCarthy has done well.

But, if they are in it for the long haul, why not go bigger.

Burnley have been this season’s surprise package, securing European football at Turf Moor for the first time in their clubs history.

They currently behold two of the best English goalkeepers in the league in Nick Pope and Tom Heaton.

Due to injuries, Tom Heaton has been sidelined for the majority of this campaign, allowing Nick Pope to display his ability, so much so he was even rewarded with an England call-up.

When both fully fit, one of these two players will be dropped to second choice, something that neither one of the goalkeepers will want, especially at the calibre they are both at. This makes it the perfect time to enquire and sign either goalie.

While Gareth Southgate hasn’t announced his squad, Nick Pope has to be considered for a spot on the plane to Russia, while Tom Heaton very much likely would have also been, if it weren’t for his injury.

Wolves aren’t in desperate need of any specific outfield positions, but 31-year-old John Ruddy may just be replaced for the start of next season.
