Wolves are expected to have a busy summer after promotion to the Premier League was confirmed and the newly-promoted side have been linked with a move for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala.

The France international is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium in the summer and is not needed by manager Pep Guardiola so is set to move on.

Mangala had joined Everton on-loan in January however a serious knee injury ended his season in February.

Whilst he still hasn't recovered from the injury, The Sun are reporting that Wolves are interested in the player, who is connected to super-agent Jorge Mendes.

The report adds that the players current salary of £85,000 a week will be no issue for the Black Country club, although the ex-Porto defender will demand a hefty signing bonus as no transfer fee will be involved.

However, Wolves face serious competition for the 27-year old, with interest from other Premier League clubs as well as foreign sides, including Valencia, where Mangala played for one season two years ago.

The Verdict

Even though he has had a tough time at Manchester City, Mangala would be a good signing for Wolves, providing he can prove his fitness.

He is powerful, strong and quick and wouldn't be as exposed as much in the way Nuno Espirito Santo's team operates, which would bring out his natural defensive qualities.

Wolves will hope that the Jorge Mendes factor can give them the edge over other interested clubs.
