Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in a move for Middlesbrough striker Kike, according to the Daily Mirror.
The striker has been a bit part player for ‘Boro this season, making just ten league starts and has come on from the bench nine times. He has four goals and a solitary assist to his name.
This comes of the back of the Spaniard being a crucial figure in Aitor Karanka’s team last season, with ten goals and three assists coming from his 45 league appearances as Middlesbrough made it into the play-offs last season.
Aitor Karanka is determined to get a striker into the Riverside this month, with Ross McCormack, Alex Pritchard and Jordan Rhodes all being heavily linked with a move in recent days. If any one of those striker were to sign, it would pave the way for Kike to leave to get game time.
The 26-year old-signed for Middlesbrough in 2014, and has scored 15 league goals in 53 appearances for ‘Boro.
Kenny Jackett’s Wolves have been heavily linked with the Middlesbrough man to replace Benik Afobe, who left for Bournemouth earlier this month.
However, if a deal was to go through for Kike, it would have to be done quickly as the transfer deadline is on Monday night at 11pm.
Middlesbrough are currently second in the Championship, with 55 points in 28 games, although they have lost their last two.
Wolves, on the other hand, are languishing in mid table, with 38 points in 28 games, having expected a play-off push this time around.
