The 22-year-old has made only three league starts for Aitor Karanka's side in the Championship this season, and the Boro' boss is expected to make a decision on his future within the next 48 hours.

The injury picked up by Nouha Dicko earlier this month, which rules him out for the rest of season, has left Wolves manager Kenny Jackett short of attacking options, with only Adam Le Fondre and Benik Afobe fit and available for selection.

Jackett has shown genuine interest in taking Reach to Molineux after making a formal inquiry about the availability of the former England Under-20 international.

This comes after the Wolves manager confirmed that Shola Ameobi, who has been training with the side this week, will not be moving to Molineux.

Reach has made 78 appearances for Middlesbrough since graduating from their youth academy in 2010, finding the net seven times, and has had loan spells at Darlington, Shrewsbury Town and, most recently, Bradford City.

First team football has been hard to come by for Reach this season, particularly since the arrival of Stewart Downing in the summer, and Karanka may see fit to loan his winger out, rather than leave him wasting away on the sidelines.

However, the Boro' boss will have to decide whether he wants to loan him out to a Championship rival.

Wolves are currently 18th in the Championship, and face a trip to 22nd placed Preston North End on Saturday, and Jackett will be keen secure the loan signing of Reach as soon as possible.
