Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno is a summer target for Wolves.

According to Fussball Transfers, Leno is in talks with the club, but Atletico Madrid are his favoured option as they put plans in place to replace Jan Oblak if he decides to leave.

Last season Wolves brought in Ruben Neves as their statement signing and this would be similar if not bigger because the 26-year-old is one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga.

They are competing for his signature against the second best side in La Liga this season who are willing to make him a starter, so these are exciting times for Wolves fans.

John Ruddy is the number one currently, but they are aiming to upgrade in that area as well as others in their first season back in the Premier League.

The Verdict

This would be a huge statement of intent from Wolves if they managed to pull it off. Just the fact that he has made the provisional Germany World Cup squad is impressive because Manuel Neuer, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Kevin Trapp, Sven Ulreich and Timo Horn are just some of the goalkeepers competing for the spots.

They are heavily dependent on Atletico's goalkeeping situation, so it is unlikely to happen, but this shows that they are ambitious at the very least and that top players from abroad are taking their project seriously.
