Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers have decided against continuing to loan Danny Graham from Premier League side Sunderland, reports the Birmingham Mail.

Graham will not be staying at Wolves

The 29-year-old front man is not likely to look back on his time at the midlands club with fond memories, having contributed just one goal in the 2-1 loss at Molineux to Bournemouth during his five Championship appearances.

Having signed on loan in mid-November Wolves boss Kenny Jackett was keen to find the missing piece of the puzzle in the form of a proven goalscorer.

He saw the former Swansea City forward as a potential solution to this void in the squad as a player that boasted 101 goals in 341 League appearance before joining on loan.

However, in a career that once included earning the accolade of the 2010/2011 Championship season's Golden Boot for his 24 goals for Watford, Graham has failed to re-create his goalscoring form of late.

Jackett has spoken out about his need to land a striker in the January transfer market as a result of missing out on the services of Bakary Sako who has been called up for African Cup of Nations duty in the early part of 2015.

The pair will potentially miss out on up to five Championship fixtures and Jackett told the Wolverhampton Express & Star:"It's about making sure that along the front line we've got as many possibilities as we can have. The good thing is that the transfer window is opening during that period and we have the time to do something about it."

The Midlands side currently sit just off the play-off places in the division and will be keen to lay their claim to returning to the top flight of English Football for the first time since 2012.
