Adama Traore is having a medical at Wolverhampton Wanderers today (August 7) ahead of a proposed move to the Premier League side, Sky Sports' Keith Downie has reported.

Middlesbrough have been braced for the exit of Traore since it was revealed the winger has an £18million release clause in his current contract.

Wolves have been after the former Barcelona man all summer and look like they are set to sign the attacker for more than the minimum release clause.

The newly-promoted side are reported to be paying in the region of £20 million to afford the player in instalments rather than one lump sum going to his current team.

Traore missed Boro’s season opener with Millwall on the weekend having just recovered from a shoulder injury and was not risked with his impending exit drawing ever closer.

The transfer window closes at 5pm on Thursday, and Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis has wasted no time in targeting a replacement.

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has been earmarked as a replacement for Traore and will have a reasonably sized war-chest to utilise from the sale of the 22-year-old.

The Verdict

Finally, one of the transfer sagas of the summer is coming to an end.

Adama Traore’s move to Wolves has been one of the worst kept secrets of the summer with the whole transfer played out in the open.

The move was on, then off, now it is on and inevitably going to happen.

He will be a storming signing for the Premier League new-boys. On his day he was unplayable in the Championship.

But he will need to become more consistent for his new club to become an unrefutable first-team regular.

This is a big signing and a chance for the former Barcelona man to shine on English football's elite stage.
