Wolves have reportedly moved ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign highly-rated Bolton midfielder, Luca Connell according to Football Insider.

The 18-year-old has been a rare bright spark for Bolton this season, but was unable to stop them being relegated to League One.

The youngster could be looking to move on as well, with Bolton's off-field troubles seemingly not getting any closer to being resolved.

Connell has made 12 appearances in total for Bolton in a breakthrough season for the midfielder, who can also operate in defence if called upon.

It had previously been reported by Football Insider that Spurs were edging closer to securing a deal for Connell, but there seems to have been some delay in talks.

He's out of contract at the end of the season, which is only going to heighten interest in his services ahead of a potential move in the near future.

It would certainly come as a surprise to see Connell renew his contract with Bolton, and a move to a Premier League side certainly looks as though it is on the cards.

The Verdict:

This would be a great signing for Wolves.

Connell is a real talent and I think that he is a player with a bright future ahead of him in the professional game.

He has age on his side, and if he is given the game time he needs to develop, he could prove to be an excellent signing for Wolves in the future.
