Wolves' title challenge continued at the weekend in fine style as they beat Aston Villa convincingly thanks to a 2-0 scoreline at Molineux.

Both sides went into the game thinking that they could get three points in order to really boost their respective title hopes but, in all honesty, it was only Wolves who were at the races come the first whistle.

Indeed, it was the latest performance this season to underline the club's superb chance of winning the league and they have to be considered the favourites for the second tier crown.

The project under Nuno Santo, then, appears to be going well and any doubts that remained have surely gone - with this stat certainly helping that banishing feeling, as per Goodbrand Stats on Twitter:

Wolves, then, are a good ten points better off this season compared to this time last year and that underlines the sheer progress that has been made under Nuno Santo from the time of Paul Lambert.

The likes of Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota have certainly helped out in that fashion and it is certainly hard to say who is going to keep pace with Wolves over the coming weeks and months.

The Verdict

Wolves have been very good this season and their performance against Villa was one of their best so far this season.

It really is hard to see who is going to stop them and the progress from last year should only get better - which is quite frightening when you think about it.
