Despite the cruel manner in which Wolves crashed out of the Carabao Cup, goalkeeper Will Norris believes that the players will have no problem picking themselves up.

The Black Country outfit held the Premier League leaders for 120 minutes, but ultimately lost on penalties.

For Norris, the cup has been the stage for him to impress. He has stepped in for John Ruddy and shown his class, keeping four clean sheets in his four games.

The shutout at the Etihad meant he was the first keeper to stop Pep Guardiola's men since David de Gea.

Speaking to the Express & Star, he was quick to praise his teammates though. “It's nice to keep the clean sheets, it's what I'm here for. I've been very lucky to have 10 unbelievable players in front of me – they deserve great credit. I owe them a tremendous amount because they made some unbelievable blocks.”

The former Cambridge man was adamant that the nature of the defeat would not impact the players. “We've got a really together group this year. If adversity does strike the boys are there to pick each other up – it's just the type of group we've got.”

The Verdict

From a personal perspective, Will Norris can be delighted with his performances in the Carabao Cup. He is yet to concede a goal in a Wolves shirt and has been terrific.

Fans now see him as a very able deputy, and he is pushing Ruddy hard for the number one spot.

They will also find his comments pleasing as it offers a little insight into the way of the team. They have no time to feel sorry for themselves with the games coming thick and fast as they look to maintain their lead at the top of the Championship.
