Wolves continue to plot swoop for Arsenal transfer target

Jorge Mendes’ influence at Molineux could once again help Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer, with the Sky Bet Championship outfit going up against Arsenal in the race to sign Andre Silva.

According to a report in the Mirror, Arsenal and Monaco are both keen on recruiting Silva from AC Milan in the summer, but Wolves remain in the hunt for a deal and hope to pip their big-name rivals.

Silva has a link with Mendes and Wolves’ head-coach Nuno Espirito Santo, who he worked with during his time at Porto.

Those links could give Wolves the edge in the race to sign Silva this summer, with the Molineux club hoping to be a Premier League outfit by the time the transfer window opens in the summer.

Silva’s suitors currently top the Championship table, holding a three-point lead over second and more significantly a 10-point lead over third, giving them control of the race for automatic promotion.

That lure of Premier League football and Silva’s links with Mendes and Nuno are expected to give Wolves an edge in the race to sign the talented 22-year-old.

The Verdict

Wolves are in dreamland with Mendes, who has been behind the arrival of Nuno, as well as the likes of Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves, who have lit the Championship up this season.

The links between Wolves and Silva aren’t going away, and if the Molineux club can secure the striker’s service in the summer, it will be some coup for them, particularly given the size of the other clubs in the race to sign him.
