Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in signing Belgian left-back Sebastien Pocognoli from bitter rivals West Bromwich Albion, according to the Express & Star.

Manager Kenny Jackett was spotted in the stands at the Hawthorns to watch the Belgian defender in action as the Baggies drew 2-2 with Peterborough in the FA Cup.

The Molineux outfit recently lost Scott Golbourne to Bristol City, meaning that the club now have no other senior left-backs available to play.

Matt Doherty has been occupying the left-back berth for the last few games however his natural position is at right-back.

Pocognoli joined the Premier League side in 2014 from but has only made 3 cup appearances for the Albion this season, with Tony Pulis preferring to start Jonny Evans at left-back.

The Baggies boss admitted after the FA Cup replay at Bristol City, where Pocognoli impressed as a substitute, that he would like to offload the defender who joined from Hannover 96 for £1.5m.

He said: "There’s nine days to go (in this transfer window) so we’ll see. Poc did OK considering he hasn't played for a while, I thought he came in and did alright. He’s desperate to play football, we understand that.”

It is thought however that Wolves would prefer to see the player come in on loan, instead of on a permanent move, in what would be a controversial deal between two Black Country rivals.

Steve Bull famously made the switch across the Midlands in 1986 and went on to become a club legend - scoring a record-breaking 306 goals throughout his 13-year stint at Molineux.

Wolves have had a disappointing season so far and find themselves 12th in the Championship after collecting 38 points from 28 games and fans will be hoping for some additions before the deadline closes due to Benik Afobe leaving for Bournemouth.
