Championship heavyweights Wolves and Nottingham Forest both want to sign Blackburn winger Conor Mahoney, according to the Daily Mail.

However, the duo face competition for the winger's signature from Scottish champions Celtic, with Brendan Rodgers also keen on securing a deal for the highly rated wide man.

Mahoney made 21 appearances for Rovers last season in what was a disappointing season for the club, with the former Premier League champions relegated to League One. However, for Mahoney on a personal level, it gave him the chance to showcase his talents on a regular basis, and he is being tipped to have a successful career in the game.

A move back to one of the top levels of football though would do Mahoney the world of good, and the Championship will surely interest him, especially two clubs the size of Wolves and Forest.

The report claims it is Forest who are in pole position to sign the midfielder, however it remains to be seen just who he will opt to sign for, and who is willing to stump up the compensation for Mahoney with him still being under 24.

Forest and Wolves fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
