Wolverhampton Wanderers have opened talks with Bournemouth about the possibility of a deal that would bring striker Lewis Grabban to Molineux, according to reports in the Birmingham Mail

Wolves have already been busy this transfer window after acquiring the services of attacker Rafa Mir from La Liga side Valencia, and look to seek more additions as they look to recruit Lewis Grabban.

Grabban spent the first half of this season at the Championship's lowest ranked club Sunderland, where he managed to score 12 goals in 19 appearances for the Black Cats.

Indeed, with Sunderland struggling at the bottom of the table he opted to end his loan-spell short of the agreed date as he looks to move elsewhere on a permanent deal, with his future at Bournemouth looking bleak due to Benik Afobe, Callum Wilson, Jermain Defoe and Joshua King all being ahead of him in the pecking order.

Lewis Grabban would be the ideal addition to compete with Leo Bonatini at the pinnacle of the Wolves attack, having seen both men be prolific so far this season.

Eddie Howe recently provided an update on the striker's future as he came out to say that Lewis Grabban will be leaving the club this transfer window.

Nevertheless, with this news it looks like Wolves have made the first move in the race for the striker after Cardiff City, Bristol City and Aston Villa also expressed an interest in the Bournemouth man.

The verdict

Lewis Grabban would be a superb signing.

Offering bags of pace and brute strength, he brings Wolves a different dynamic in the attacking-third with Leo Bonatini very much built off build-up play and holding the ball up.

Having proven he can score goals at the Championship level, the striker will be a quality addition for Wolves, and will be sure to help cement their title push.

Nevertheless, a move that would benefit the player massively to be a part of a successful squad that will provide him with the minutes he desires.
