Plymouth Argyle are in advanced talks to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Niall Ennis on loan, according to Football Insider.
The 20-year-old made his debut for Wolves last season, coming off the bench in an FA Cup win over Shrewsbury Town and has been a regular scorer for their under-23 side.
Ennis is regarded as one of the brightest young talents to come through Wolves’ academy and the club are prepared to send him out on loan next season to allow him to experience regular first team football.
The report states that a number of EFL clubs have made enquiries about signing the attacker on loan for next season, but Plymouth are the favourites to sign him.
Plymouth boss Ryan Lowe will be looking to bolster his attacking options this summer, having lost last season’s top scorer Freddie Ladapo to Rotherham United.
Lowe took charge at Home Park last month and will be hoping to achieve promotion with Plymouth this campaign, after guiding Bury to automatic promotion from League Two last season.
Ennis could be a great signing for Plymouth and a decent replacement for Ladapo.
He’s a talented young player and he’s obviously got something special about him to be on the books of a Premier League club in Wolves.
The fact that he’s already made an appearance for Wolves suggests that they rate him highly for the future and sending him out on loan will allow him to experience regular first-team football.
He probably ins’t going to get a chance in the first team at Wolves next season, so sending him out on loan is the best thing for his development.
The striker has already spent time on loan at Shrewsbury in the past, although his loan spell was cut short due to a serious injury, so he deserves another chance to prove himself in the EFL.
He’s definitely one to watch for the future and he should be able to make an impact in League Two.
Plymouth will be hoping to challenge for automatic promotion next season, so Argyle could be a good move for Ennis.
