Premier League sides Wolves are plotting a raid on Bristol City for left back Joe Bryan, according to the Bristol Post (07:32am).

They're up against Rafa Benitez's Newcastle United who are also interested in the 24-year old. As well as a standard left back, Bryan can also operate as a wing-back.

Wolves Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly a good friend of Lee Johnson after the pair met doing their coaching badges together in Scotland, and is interested in bringing a left-sided player to Molineux, according to the report.

However they've joined the race late as Newcastle have been tracking the player for some time, with fellow Championship sides Leeds and Middlesbrough also interested.

Bryan is a product of the Robins youth system and has made 229 appearances in all competitions for his home town club, following short loan spells with Plymouth Argyle and Bath City.

Last season Bryan played 48 games for Lee Johnson's side, scoring seven goals.

The Verdict

It is only a matter of time, Bryan simply gets better with each passing season and Premier League interest is no shock at this stage.

What would be a surprise is if either of the Championship clubs sniffing around got a look in. Bryan is on a collision course with the top flight, sooner rather than later.
